In this three hour workshop, we will guide participants through a playful, exploratory and open-ended exploration of the roles of speed, rhythm and timing in our lives and how these might change in emerging futures. Using methodologies developed over the past decade and drawing from many sources, the process will stimulate conversations, bring together strange bedfellows, extrapolate in all directions at once and hopefully surprise us all.
Participants are expected to have no expertise other than a capacity to listen, share and explore. We take it as given that "it is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain an idea without necessarily believing it" and will not try to predict how the future will be, but to imagine how the future might be, together and in plural.
We will assume that participants have been at the presentation the night before, so will have been introduced to some ideas about arts-based futuring. Please be punctual to start at 10:00 so we can all imagine together, and stay until 13:00 when we will all stop and celebrate our imaginings.
