ReImagining Work - Sessions

 

Die Zukunft der Arbeit stellt einen zentralen Topos in allen Auseinandersetzungen mit Zukunftsfragen dar. Eine sich verändernde Arbeitswelt wirft die Frage auf, wie auch bislang unsichtbare und unbezahlte Arbeit, die allerdings ein bedeutungsvolles und wichtiges Tun darstellt, Anerkennung und Achtung finden kann, auch abseits des bislang gängigen Wertschöpfungsprozesses.
 

Die Europäische Kommission hat ein Programm entwickelt, welches sich mit Fragen der Stadtentwicklung auseinandersetzt und dazu an die rumänische Stadt Cluj-Napoca ein 3-jähriges Forschung- und Entwicklungsprogramm vergeben. Cluj-Napoca, die zweitgrößte Stadt Rumäniens ist inmitten Siebenbürgens gelegen und zeichnet sich als historisch multikulturelles Zentrum aus.

 

Die Betreiber*Innen der Die „Urban Innovation Unit“ in Cluj-Napoca beschäftigt sich damit, alternative Lösungen für die Herausforderungen der Stadtentwicklung gemeinsam mit Zivilgesellschaft, dem akademischen und kulturellen Sektor, der Wirtschaft, wie auch der Verwaltung zu entwicklen. Ihre Schwerpunktthemen dabei sind die Bereiche Urban Mobility, Future Of Work und Urban Resilience.

 

Time‘s Up wurde dazu eingeladen, im Rahmen des Future of Work-Schwerpunkts, einerseits die Gruppenausstellung Work Upside Down zu ko-kuratieren und einen eigenen Beitrag dafür zu gestalten und andererseits unter dem Motto „ReImaging Work“ eine Workshopserie zu betreiben.

 

Der erste Workshop dieser Serie wurde bereits im Oktober 2019 abgehalten und beschäftigte sich übergeordnet mit möglichen Transformationen des Arbeitslebens im Kunst- und Kulturbereich.

 

Im Oktober 2021 wird diese Serie fortgesetzt. Dabei richtet sich der Fokus vor allem auf die kulturellen und sozialen Aspekte. Die drei bevorstehenden Workshops widmen sich den Fragen: 
 

 

• Culturepreneurs: welche neuen Jobs können im Kultur- und Kreativbereich entwickelt werden?
• Work 4.0: welche Auswirkungen sind in den Bereichen zu erwarten die von hoher Automatisierung betroffen sind?
• Informal work: was wird mit dem Informellen Sektor geschehen, der ohnehin mit  großen Herausforderungen konfrontiert ist, sich am herkömmlichen Arbeitsmarkt zu etablieren? Hierbei widmet sich die Auseinandersetzung insbesondere den bislang marginalisierten Bevölkerungsanteilen der Stadt, die sowohl traditionell wie auch real einen Großteil ihres Einkommens im informellen Sektor bezieht. 

 

 

 

 

The future of work is a central topos in all discussions of possible futures. A changing world of work raises the question of how previously invisible and unpaid work, which nonetheless represents a meaningful and important activity, can be recognized and respected, even outside the usual value creation process.

 

The European Commission has developed a program that deals with questions of urban development and has awarded a 3-year research and development program to the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca. Cluj-Napoca, the second largest city in Romania, is located in the middle of Transylvania and stands out as a historical multicultural center.

 

The operators of the "Urban Innovation Unit" in Cluj-Napoca are engaged in developing alternative solutions to the challenges of urban development together with civil society, the academic and cultural sector, the business community, as well as the administration. Its main topics are Urban Mobility, Future Of Work and Urban Resilience.

 

Time's Up was invited to co-curate the group exhibition Work Upside Down and to create a contribution for it and to run a workshop series under the motto "ReImaging Work".

 

The first workshop of this series was already held in October 2019 and dealt principally with possible transformations of working life in the arts and culture sector.

 

In October 2021, this series will be continued. The focus will be primarily on cultural and social aspects. The three upcoming workshops are dedicated to the questions:

 

• Culturepreneurs: what new jobs can be developed in the cultural and creative sectors?
• Work 4.0: what impact can be expected in the areas affected by high automation?
• Informal work: what will happen to the informal sector, which is already facing great challenges in establishing itself in the conventional labour market? The discussion focuses in particular on the hitherto marginalised parts of the city's population, which both traditionally and in real terms derive a large part of their income from the informal sector.
