Water as Medium
The lure of the horizon, the desire for autonomy, the attraction of the beach and the freedom of action submerged in the water, the oasis and the waterwheel, the propellor and the sail, the river and the flood. Water and machines in on, around and utilising water are ever present and ever changing. From the reed boats of the middle east through the devices of today, the water powered and controlled Arabian machines to the assemblages of Open Sailing.
This workshop aims to investigate some of these topics, pulling out examples, drawing connections between them and various areas of human endeavour, from exploration to travel, from autonomous sailing boats to data visualisation processes.
